The fourth suspect sought in connection with the August killing of a northwest Atlanta restaurant owner was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony murder, police said.
Christopher Penson, 23, was taken into custody at police headquarters and transported to Fulton County jail, where he was being held without bond Tuesday night, according to Officer John Chafee, spokesman for the Atlanta Police Department.
“Atlanta Police Homicide Investigator Sutton was able to ascertain probable cause to charge Christopher Penson … with felony murder,” Chafee said in an email to the AJC. “Mr. Penson is the last of four suspects charged in this case.”
Four men have now been arrested and charged with the Aug. 16 shooting death of Vanessa Elaine Thrasher, owner of O.T.’s Lounge and Soul Food Grill.
A third suspect, Gerald R. Peterson was spotted by police in a south Fulton County night club early Saturday morning and was taken into custody, Fulton County police said. Authorities had already arrested Otis Ricks Jr. and DeMario LaNard Carman in connection with the shooting.
The four men, alleged members of the so-called C.R.G.– Campbellton Road Gangsters – are accused of attempting to rob the lounge. Thrasher shot and wounded Carman during the robbery, even as she was being fatally wounded by the bandits’ gunfire, police said.
