Atlanta-based Cox Media Group is selling five of its TV stations in four markets to Sinclair Television. The stations include Fox-affiliate KFOX-TV in El Paso; NBC-affiliate WJAC-TV in Johnstown, Pa.; Fox-affiliate KRXI-TV and MyNetwork-affiliate KAME-TV in Reno; and NBC-affiliate WTOV-TV in Steubenville, Ohio.

The station sales, and other recently announced deals, are part of CMG’s strategy to focus on larger markets, cross-media collaboration and heightened impact in fewer markets, the company said in a statement.

Earlier this month, CMG announced Connoisseur is buying its southern Connecticut radio stations and SummitMedia is buying CMG radio stations in Birmingham; Greenville, S.C.; Hawaii; Louisville, Ky.; and Richmond, Va. The sales are expected to close in the second quarter, pending regulatory approvals.

CMG also recently added four TV stations in two markets: WAWS-TV (Fox) and WTEV-TV (CBS) in Jacksonville and KOKI-TV (Fox) and KMYT-TV (MyNetwork) in Tulsa, Okla. CMG owns and operates all of the stations except WTEV, which is owned by Bayshore Television but is operated by CMG.

Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.

CMG, a subsidiary of Atlanta-based Cox Enterprises, also owns The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
