A woman accused of stealing a truck from a Marietta gas station — with two children in tow — was caught after a police chase late Tuesday night, Channel 2 Action News reported.
The truck was equipped with GPS and the woman was tracked to Carroll County, where Nicole Terria Evans tried to elude police on I-20, authorities said. She hit at least one Carroll County deputy’s car before crashing, according to Channel 2, but no injuries were reported.
Evans was taken into custody by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. She was charged with theft by receiving stolen property, aggravated assault, reckless conduct, cruelty to children and 19 traffic-related charges, according to Carroll County Jail records.
Earlier in the day, Evans allegedly tried to carjack a cab before the driver could load her child’s stroller in the back.
When the cab driver stopped her, Evans took off across a busy Cobb County road, with a child under each arm, shortly after 5 p.m., according to witnesses and Marietta police.
After crossing Ga. 120, Evans got behind the wheel of a Ford F-150 while its owner was inside a convenience store, according to police. The truck’s owner tried to stop the woman by grabbing onto the truck, but he was dragged a short distance before falling off, Channel 2 reported.
But Evans wasn’t done. She left the gas station parking lot in the truck, with her two children inside, according to police.
