A 26-year-old man who recently moved from Minnesota to Georgia died after a shooting outside a Flowery Branch tavern, the mayor of that city said Saturday afternoon.

Donald Lee Battle Jr. of Buford was leaving the Branch House Tavern at 5466 McEver Road when a shooting occurred just after 2 a.m. Saturday, Mayor Mike Miller told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

While “the relevant parties” in the shooting have been identified, Miller did not release their names or confirm any arrests.

“We do have the GBI processing the scene,” he said. “Flowery Branch police is handling the balance of the investigation. We have briefed the district attorney and as the investigation develops, we will release additional information.”

Donald Trump's administration deployed the military to Washington, D.C., in the name of fighting crime, and in an Aug. 11 news conference he mentioned the possibility of military being sent to other large American cities, all of which are led by Black, Democratic mayors. And while Atlanta wasn't included in Trump's list, the city fits that profile under Mayor Andre Dickens. (Photo Illustration: Philip Robibero / AJC | Source: Getty)
