A South Carolina man who was reported missing while hunting near Rabun County in North Georgia has been found dead.

Eric Ryan Tench, 38, of Walhalla, was said to be looking for some of his dogs after a hunt in the mountains of Rabun County and the bordering county of Oconee County, S.C., according to a Facebook post by his sister.

The Rabun County Emergency Management Agency had volunteers searching for him from May 19 until his body was found Thursday. It's unclear what caused his death.

On Tench’s obituary page, the family thanked, “The Rabun County and the State of Georgia EMA teams and all volunteers and family members who supported the relentless search and rescue effort by giving of their time and showing their compassion and care during this difficult time.”

A memorial service will be held June 23 in Walhalla.

And I still don’t know what to do at this point.” (Natrice Miller/AJC)

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
