The trial for an aspiring model and singer accused of fatally stabbing a Dalton convenience store clerk has been scheduled for October, according to the Whitfield County District Attorney.

Skyy Raven Marie Mims, 21, of Detroit, was arrested in March, two days after she allegedly killed the 37-year-old clerk inside the gas station, then helped herself to cash and lottery tickets, according to police. Video surveillance cameras showed images of the suspect, later identified as Mims, inside the store.

Dahyabhi Kalidas Chaudhari, known as DK, was working alone on a Sunday night at Kanku’s Express on Airport Road in Dalton when he was allegedly approached from behind by a woman who covered his mouth and hit him in the back of the head, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution previously reported. The store’s owners said DK didn’t have family in the area, but he was always smiling and quickly made friends with customers.

Tips from the community led police and the U.S. Marshals Service to a home in Bartow County, where Mims was arrested two days later. She was charged with murder and armed robbery. Mims remained Wednesday in the Whitfield County jail, where she has been held without bond since her arrest.

The trial for Mims, who was indicted in May, is scheduled for the week of Oct. 13, Whitfield County District Attorney Bert Poston said. Her arraignment, previously scheduled for Friday, has been continued to Aug. 25 at 2 p.m. before Superior Court Judge Jack Partain, Poston said.
