Several students were injured Thursday morning when their school bus and a pickup truck were involved in a head-on collision in Haralson County, authorities said.

The wreck happened on Ga. 120 near Pine Grove Road.

According to the Georgia State Patrol, the bus was traveling eastbound when a westbound Dodge pickup truck driven by an unidentified 17-year-old girl crossed the center line. The bus and the truck collided.

An official with the Haralson County Fire Department told Channel 2 Action News that there were 39 middle and high school students on the bus.

The GSP said the bus driver and approximately five students were taken to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver of the pickup was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital with serious injuries.

Ga. 120 was expected to be closed until early Thursday afternoon. The wreck remains under investigation.

Haralson County is about 60 miles west of Atlanta.
