Police said a man was shot three times with an airsoft gun while walking down a road in Gainesville.
The 56-year-old was on Skelton Drive near a Target store on Shallowford Road when he was hit, Gainesville police spokeswoman Cpl. Jessica Van said. The man told police a car drove by and he heard a “pop” sound, she confirmed.
The projectiles hit the man on the hand, in the abdomen and in the face. One broke the skin under his eye, according to Channel 2 Action News.
The projectiles were consistent “with a small caliber weapon, such as a pellet gun or airsoft weapon” Van said.
Details about the weapon are uncertain, according to Van. The man, whose injuries were not life-threatening, was treated on the scene but refused further examination.
Though the gun was not real, those involved could still face charges up to aggravated assault if caught, police told Channel 2.
The shots came from a black Honda Civic, Channel 2 reported. Police do not believe the attack was targeted.
Anyone with information is asked to call police.
