A man is in jail after police said he held a woman captive in a Cobb County motel for five months and trafficked her for sex.
Brian Brown-Tate was arrested and accused of making the woman have sex with more than a dozen men for money, Channel 2 Action News reported.
Police said the sex trafficking took place at the Knights Inn on Blair Bridge Road in Austell, the news station reported.
According to an arrest warrant, the woman was held against her will between March and September. She told investigators at least 15 men paid to have sex with her, Channel 2 reported. If she didn’t follow Brown-Tate’s orders, he threatened her with physical violence, she said.
Police said Brown-Tate also beat the woman and sexually assaulted her.
Brown-Tate was taken into custody near the motel Oct. 17. He is being held in the Cobb County Adult Detention Facility with no bond, charged with rape, trafficking a person for sexual servitude, battery and false imprisonment.
The owner of the motel told Channel 2 he was not aware the sex trafficking was taking place.
“(Brown-Tate) had only been staying here for five nights, not five months,” owner Mike Patel told Channel 2 in a statement. “This is the first I have heard about this, not even the police have contacted me. I was unaware of what was going on. I am very sorry.”
