A local bowling alley that was forced to close after a portion of the building’s roof buckled under the weight of Friday’s heavy downpours may not reopen until midweek.

“Unfortunately power will not be restored today,” Junction Lanes Family Entertainment Center officials said Monday in a Facebook post. “Therefore we will not be open for business on Tuesday. “

Part of the Newnan bowling alley’s roof collapsed over its glow-in-the-dark mini golf course due to the rain. The storm also caused damage to the fire sprinkler lines, officials said.

Because all the damage was isolated to the golf course, owner Ryan Huber hoped other sections for bowling, arcade games and dining would be open by now.

“We remain hopeful for Wednesday,” officials said in the Facebook post. “Thank you for your support and understanding.”

No one was physically injured as a result of the damage. However, people who reserved the Newnan Station Drive facility for birthday parties and other functions were forced to make alternate arrangements.
