A Georgia Tech student hit by a tractor-trailer six days ago has died, Atlanta police said Friday.
Brian Edmonds, 20, died Thursday at Grady Memorial Hospital, where he had been hospitalized in critical condition since April 11.
Edmonds was riding his bicycle eastbound on Ivan Allen Boulevard when witnesses reported that traffic had stopped, Sgt. Greg Lyon previously said. Edmonds was riding in between vehicles when the light turned green as he approached Centennial Olympic Park Drive, Lyon said.
Edmonds was hit after allegedly turning in front of a tractor-trailer, according to police. The tractor-trailer's driver told police he was unable to avoid hitting the cyclist. No criminal charges are expected, police said Friday.
Edmonds, of Virginia, was a member of the crew team at Tech, where he was a second-year student.
