A former DeKalb County high school football player was found dead in an Indiana park after drowning in a nearby lake, according to multiple media reports.

Authorities were called to White Rock Park about 6 p.m. Monday after a swimmer was reported missing in the water for more than five minutes, Indianapolis-based news station WXIN reported.

Lucius Chitty, 19, was identified as the drowning victim by Indiana State Police.

About 7:15 p.m., Chitty’s body was recovered 17 feet under the water near a few docks, the news station reported. He was pronounced dead at Major Health Partners Hospital in Shelbyville.

On Tuesday afternoon, the Tucker High School football team posted "Lucius Chitty RIP" on Facebook. He was an outside linebacker and defensive end for the team before graduating from high school in 2019.

The Indiana Conservation Officers, the law enforcement branch of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources, is investigating the drowning.

White Rock Park, which is located in St. Paul, Indiana, is a privately owned outdoor recreation area consisting of campsites, cliff diving ledges and three lakes. It is located about 45 miles southwest of Indianapolis.
