Escaped inmate surrenders in Forsyth County

An inmate who walked away from a work detail at the Cumming Police Department turned himself in Sunday to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

Koby Blanchard was reported missing after 2 p.m. Friday by Cumming Police. Authorities conducted a large-scale search throughout the weekend, reaching out to anyone Blanchard may have had contact with.

Owing to pressure from the investigation, Blanchard turned himself in at the detention center at 11:33 a.m. Sunday, according to the Forysth County Sheriff’s Office. He will face additional charges arising from his escape from custody.
