Police in north Fulton County are investigating the latest case of a young child left alone inside a parked vehicle, according to an incident report released Tuesday.

A couple leaving a Lowe’s store on Roswell Road was shocked to see a young child crying inside a parked car, according to the police report obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The girl had been left alone in a locked Toyota Camry and appeared to be in distress, the couple told police.

The child’s mother, angry at comments from onlookers, left the Lowe’s store before police arrived Sunday afternoon. But police are hopeful that tag information, along with the woman’s description, will lead them to the mother for answers in the investigation.

“The little girl had tears running down her face,” Amanda Stanzione told Channel 2 Action News. “I don’t know really if it was tears or just sweat, because she was sweating profusely.”

Stanzione and her husband, Christopher, of Marietta, called 911 and went back into the store to report the incident to a manager, according to police. The child’s mother was at the customer service counter and overhead the Stanziones, prompting her to get the girl from the car, the police report states.

Stanzione told police she confronted the girl’s mother, who said, “Don’t tell me how to parent,” the report states.

The woman and child left the parking lot in the Toyota before officers arrived.
