Two men have been arrested and a third man is charged in connection with the shooting death of a teenager outside a hotel in Norcross.

Justin Carter, 21, was charged Wednesday with murder, aggravated assault and armed robbery after Christian Carrillo, 17, was killed at the Knights Inn off I-85 and Indian Trail Road. Carter is being held in the Gwinnett County jail.

Carter was arrested just as alleged accomplice Jefrey Alexander Rios, 17, had his first hearing in the case, according to Channel 2 Action News. Rios was arrested Monday.

Police say Carrillo was shot after Rios and Carter demanded money and marijuana. According to arrest warrants, Rios pulled the trigger.

A third person, Marco Cruz, 18, has also been charged in connection with the Norcross High School student’s murder but he has not been arrested, Channel 2 reported. His name and specific charges have not been released.

A GoFundMe account was created to cover Carrillo's funeral costs. The family had raised more than $1,500 of their $6,000 goal as of 6 p.m. Carrillo's family told Channel 2 he will be buried this weekend.

In 2022, Georgia Power projected its winter peak electricity demand would grow by about 400 megawatts by 2031. Since then, Georgia has experienced a boom of data centers, which require a large load of electricty to run, and Georgia Power's recent forecast shows peak demand growing by 20 times the 400-megawatt estimate from just three years ago.
