A death investigation is underway after a man’s body was found in a car submerged in a Clayton County lake.

The car, a Honda Accord, was first spotted around 11 a.m. Sunday in a lake at Clayton County International Park, Clayton police spokeswoman Officer Marcena Davis said. The county’s dive team was called in, and the body was found sitting in the driver’s seat.

“At this time, there are no obvious signs of injury that could determine cause of death,” Davis said in a news release. “The GBI medical examiner has responded to the scene.”

The GBI was expected to perform an autopsy. No further details are being released as the investigation is ongoing, Davis said.

Police did not specify in which lake the car was found at the park, which includes a 6-acre lake known as the Beach and used for swimming during the summer.
