A muggling attempt at the U.S. border with Mexico failed when inspectors found a woman from Bangkok, Thailand, tucked into a suitcase, agents said.
Customs and Border Protection agents released a photo showing Pornkamol Mongkolsermsak, 48, curled up in the suitcase. They said they found her in the suitcase, covered with clothing items, while inspecting a Honda SUV that was crossing the border into Nogales, Ariz., on Dec. 30.
Mongkolsermsak was charged with re-entering the United States after having been previously deported.
The SUV was driven by a 56-year-old Phoenix man who was not immediately named.
The case is now being handled by Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
