A worker found the badly decomposed body stuffed between a mattress and box spring Thursday around 11:30 p.m. while cleaning the apartment, KHOU reported.

Police said the apartment is connected to Carlos Rios, a 25-year-old man who has been missing since March 1, KTRK reported.

In March, homicide detectives were investigating signs of foul play inside and around the apartment, the Chronicle reported.

Family members told KTRK that Rios would visit a friend at the apartment where the body was found. The friend, Jesus Cardenas, was identified last month as a person of interest in Rios' disappearance, the television station reported.
