Body found in Etowah River

A body was found Thursday night in the Etowah River, the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office said.
Someone fishing off Jones Slough Road, near Kingston, spotted the body and called 911, according to Sgt. Jonathan Rogers.
The body was removed from the water and will be taken to the GBI crime lab for identification, Rogers said. It was not immediately known if the deceased was a man or woman.
“No further information will be released until the victim is identified and next of kin notified,” Rogers said in an emailed statement.
