A woman whose body was found floating in an Acworth lake Thursday apparently drowned, the spokesman for the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office said Saturday afternoon.

According to the preliminary results of an autopsy, no foul play is suspected in the death of Betty West, 74, of Acworth, Lt. Jay Baker said in an emailed statement. However, the investigation is continuing, he said.

West’s body was found in a lake at the Waldan Pond apartments. She lived at the complex, Baker said.
