If you took advantage of the Sunday afternoon weather, be glad you did. It’s not going to last.

Rain is on the way for Monday afternoon, according to Brad Nitz, Channel 2 Action News meteorologist.

The commute to work or school should be cloudy and dry Monday morning, but showers should begin moving into the metro area around 4 p.m., Nitz said.

No severe weather is expected, but brief periods of heavy rain is possible, Nitz said. There is a 90 percent chance of rain, he said.

Monday’s high temperature is expected to reach 64 degrees, about seven degrees cooler than Sunday, Nitz said. Sunday’s high temperature of 71 degrees was the warmest temperature since Jan. 30, he said.

The rain is expected to move out of the area Monday night and will be followed by cooler, sunnier weather, Nitz said. Temperatures should reach around 60 degrees Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, he said.
