Atlanta weather | Coldest air of season moves in

Jan 22, 2013

Expect a very chilly start to Tuesday as metro Atlantans return to work and school after the holiday weekend.

Monday’s high temperatures reached the middle 50s. But a cold blast that moved in Monday night will drop Tuesday morning temperatures into the 20s for Tuesday morning, according to Channel 2 Action News Chief Meteorologist Glenn Burns.

And it will be even colder in the northern suburbs, Burns said.

“It’s not going to warm up a whole lot tomorrow with the cold, artic air in place,” Burns said.

Sunshine will help temperatures warm only to the mid-40s Tuesday afternoon. Wednesday morning temperatures are also expected to be in the 20s, Burns said.

Temperatures should gradually increase through the week, topping out at around 60 degrees Friday, Burns said. But more cold weather is on the way for the weekend, he said.
