The 26-year-old Daytona Beach officer was identified by Police Chief Jakari Young. Officer Jason Raynor, who has been with the department since February 2019, remains in critical condition at Halifax Medical Center, Young said.

About 9 p.m. Wednesday, Raynor responded to a suspicious incident near Kingston Avenue in Daytona Beach. A short time later, the officer’s radio communication went silent, officers said.

When other officers arrived, they found Raynor shot on the ground.

Young said several local, state and federal agencies are searching for Wallace.
