The Clayton County Board of Education will swear in Joy Tellis Cooper, its newest member, on Monday.

Joy Tellis Cooper, the newest member of the Clayton County Board of Education, will be sworn in next week.

Cooper will represent District 8 on the school board after winning the seat earlier this month in a special election to replace former member Alieka Anderson. Anderson left the board this past summer to run for the Clayton County Commission seat formerly held by Commissioner Sonna Singleton Gregory, who died in May.

The swearing in ceremony for Cooper will begin at 5 p.m. Monday and will be held at the Clayton County Public Schools Administration Complex at 1058 Fifth Avenue in Jonesboro. The event also will be streamed on the school system’s Facebook and YouTube pages.
