Feb 16, 2013

Two people have been arrested following a string of five early-morning armed robberies, Atlanta police said Friday.

The robberies all occurred between 3:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. Thursday and targeted pedestrians across about 12 miles from southwest to northeast Atlanta, according to Carlos Campos, police spokesman.

One of the suspects, whose names were not released, will be charged with five counts of armed robbery, five counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and five counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, Campos said.

“Victims provided statements and assisted with information that helped investigators track stolen property, belonging to all five victims, to the individuals arrested,” Campos said in an emailed statement.

The alleged crimes occurred on Avon Avenue SW, Metropolitan Parkway SW, Piedmont Avenue NE, West Peachtree Street and 10th Street, according to police.

The investigation into the robberies continues, police said.
