Members of the anti-gun group Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America, which aims to change gun laws, say they were meeting Saturday at the Blue Mesa Grill, a Dallas-area restaurant, when an open-carry gun advocacy group showed up in the parking lot.
After members of Open Carry Texas found out about the MDA meeting on Facebook, according to local reports, more than three dozen of Open Carry supporters pulled up to the parking lot and reportedly took guns out of their trunks.
There they stayed with their guns, some of them photographed kneeling, with their weapons out. Witnesses say the the open carry supporters eventually left after making their presence known.
The group also posted what it said was a response by Open Carry Texas: "We had a great time today walking through San Antonio with our semi-automatic rifles and shotguns.
The best part was that the reaction was very positive and supportive. People are 'getting used' to seeing and being around guns and police have come to accept it and don't even question us anymore. What we are doing is working and society is coming to view the sight of 'military style rifles' in public as just another normal thing. Isn't that a good thing?"
Is it?
