Authorities issued an Amber Alert and are searching for a man described as suicidal who abducted his 18-month-old son from a Los Angeles home on Thursday, KABC reported.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, John Jose took his son Jaden around 3:30 p.m. without the consent of the boy’s biological mother, the television station reported

Jose reportedly threatened to take the boy out of state and said he would kill himself, KABC reported.

The Amber Alert was issued shortly after 11:30 p.m., police said.

Jose, 30, is described as an Asian male, 5 feet, 5 inches tall and 130 pounds, police said. He has black hair and brown eyes.

He was last seen driving a 2004 dark blue 4-door Audi with the license plate number 7ZVX343.

Jaden is 2 feet tall and weighs 27 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes, KABC reported. He was wearing a blue tank top and gray pants.
