Christian Ramos, 18, of Collinsville, is charged with second-degree domestic violence, according to arrest records. He remains in custody at the DeKalb County Detention Center in lieu of a $10,000 bond.

The incident occurred Saturday near Dawson, in DeKalb County, WHNT reported. When sheriff's deputies were called to the scene, Ramos was in the custody of a Geraldine police officer, the Chattanooga Times Free Press reported.

Paramedics took the victim to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to WAFF.

“Our prayers are with this family after the incident,” DeKalb County Sheriff Nick Welden said in a statement. “It’s fortunate that the injuries were not more severe. There is no excuse for violence like this.”
