A 3-year-old boy has been released from the hospital after he was hit by a car outside of a Macon home Saturday afternoon, officials said.

The toddler, Zaiden Sallad, was taken to an Atlanta hospital after the incident, which occurred at a home on Bennell Avenue shortly before 3:30 p.m., the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. Sallad was released from the hospital Sunday.

Investigators said a family member pulled into the home’s driveway to drop off food. The driver got out of the car and left it running, the sheriff’s office said.

A 15-year-old boy got into the car and started backing it out of the driveway, officials said. The toddler was standing behind the car and was hit, according to the sheriff’s office.

The incident is still under investigation, the sheriff’s office said. Anyone with information is asked contact Bibb sheriff’s office investigators at 478-751-7500.
