In two related actions, the Alpharetta City Council has awarded a $2.25 million street milling and resurfacing contract, and approved seeking state funds to help pay for it.

Bartow Paving Co. Inc. submitted the lowest of eight bids for the work, according to a staff report to the council. A total of 65 streets and one parking lot will be repaved. All work is to be completed by July 2.

Separately, the council authorized staff to submit a request for $573,943 from the Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant program of the Georgia Department of Transportation. The FY 2021 grant, based on motor fuel taxes collected in FY 2020, will require a 30% local match, or $172,183, staff said.
