An Austrian auto parts supplier plans to build a $62 million manufacturing plant in Bartow County, creating an estimated 220 jobs.

Gov. Nathan Deal said Wednesday the facility built by voestalpine Metal Forming will be the firm's first in the Southeast.

The company's metal forming division provides automakers with pressed parts. Herbert Eibensteiner, the CEO of voestalpine Metal Forming GmbH, said the plant will be strategically placed for his company near Cartersville. The facility will have access to I-75 and the Port of Savannah, which is about 300 miles by road.

In return for locating in Georgia, the company will receive free training for its workforce and could receive nearly $9 million in state tax breaks.

The voestalpine Group is based in Linz, Austria.
