JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- I've just finished a subscription column that should be posted soon MyAJC.com about Denver quarterback Peyton Manning, the focus of which is wondering how anybody can still question his legacy or place in NFL history.

Four years ago, before Indianapolis and New Orleans met in the Super Bowl, I wrote a blog with my rankings of the top 10 quarterbacks in NFL history. You can get to the blog by clicking this link. But here was my top 10 at the time: (1) Joe Montana, (2) Johnny Unitas, (3) Otto Graham, (4) Tom Brady, (5) Dan Marino, (6) Peyton Manning, (7) John Elway, (8) Brett Favre, (9) Terry Bradshaw, (10) Roger Staubach.
Given Manning's remarkable comeback from four neck surgeries and the fact he threw for 5,477 yards and 55 touchdowns this season at the age of 37, I believe he's now legitimately in the debate for No. 1.
There's some great comments from Manning in the column, as well as observations from teammates. I also posted the above photo that was shared by the Broncos in December. It depicts Manning wearing a helmet while soaking his ankle in a therapy tub. Illustrating his preparation and dedication, he was monitoring a live feed of practice on his iPad while listening to the audio from offensive coordinator Adam Gase.
