Supreme Court: Private probation firms can't extend sentences

Georgia Supreme Court this morning rules courts are prohibited from lengthening a misdemeanor probationer's sentence beyond the original order. But it finds that judges can impose electronic monitoring on misdemeanor defendants as a condition of probation. More details from the 41-page opinion coming on MyAJC.com
