Here is a recap of some of the bigger basketball games in Class AAAAAA on Tuesday -

*The No. 1-ranked Wheeler’s boys (14-1, 6-0) beat No. 9 Pope (13-2, 7-1) 64-54 for first place in Region 5-AAAAAA. Pope got within 58-52 with the ball in the final two minutes but no closer. Wheeler’s Cameron Jordan scored 16 points and had 10 rebounds for Wheeler, according to the Marietta Daily Journal. Jaylen Brown, the state’s No. 1-rated recruit, scored 16 points and had 12 rebounds. The MDJ credited Chase Hutchins with 21 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

*The No. 7-ranked Parkview girls (9-3, 5-0) beat No. 4 Archer (11-3, 5-1) 52-48 for first place in Region 8-AAAAAA. Parkview took a 15-point lead in the first half, lost the lead in the fourth, but came out on top. Vicki Harris, a 6-3 post committed to Rutgers, had 15 points, eight rebounds, three blocked shots and five steals, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post. Archer beat Parkview two out of three times last season.

*The No. 6 South Forsyth girls (13-2, 8-0) beat No. 5 North Forsyth (13-2, 7-1) 52-50 for first place in Region 6-AAAAAA. Sarah Myers, who is head to Maryland, scored 29 points, 20 in the second half, according to the Forsyth News. North’s Caroline Bowns, committed to Campbell, scored 16. North beat South two out of three last season, including a four-point win for the region title, but South made it further in the state playoffs, making the semifinals.

*The No. 8 Collins Hills boys (13-2, 4-1) beat Duluth (13-2, 4-1) 50-43, knocking Duluth out of first place. Devin Watson scored 16 points and made seven straight free throws in the final minutes, according to the Gwinnett Daily Post.

*The No. 5 Norcross boys (12-3, 4-1) beat Mill Creek (11-5, 3-2) 50-42. Ricky Madison scored 26 points for Norcross. The outcome put Norcross in a three-way tie for first with Collins Hill and Duluth and dropped Mill Creek to fourth.

*The No. 8 Norcross girls (13-2, 5-0) beat Mill Creek (11-5, 4-1) 50-42 in a game that left Norcross and Mountain View (11-3, 6-0) as the lone unbeaten teams in Region 7-AAAAAA. Ty Gillespie scored 17 points for Norcross. Norcross plays at Mountain View on Tuesday.
