The Warner Robins football team has already equaled its win total from last year. When the Demons improved to 3-0 on Friday with its 38-35 win over Peach County, it was evidence that the traditional Middle Georgia powerhouse is back to its winning ways.
“I can’t my hat off enough to those guys … fighting,” Warner Robins coach Mike Chastain said. “We preach all the time, finishing and fourth quarters, finishing and fourth quarters. They have stepped up, down 10 to Northside, down 10 (to Peach). They come back, keep bouncing. I love our resilience right now. I can’t say enough about how jacked up we are about them.”
It helps that Warner Robins got a couple of important preseason transfers in quarterback Dylan Fromm and his brother Tyler, brothers of University of Georgia quarterback Jake Fromm. Dylan Fromm completed 30 of 40 passes for 315 yards and three touchdowns against Peach County. The winning points came on a 35-yard field goal from Eli Mashburn at the horn.

Stockbridge Enjoys Saturday Night Fever: The No. 3-ranked Tigers prevailed on Saturday night for the second straight week. This time they spotted Lovejoy seven points and went on for a 21-7 win over Lovejoy. Stockbridge scored on a 16-yard run by quarterback Gabriel McKenzie, B.J. Riley scored on a 7-yard run and a Steven Bonner run.
Wayne County proves opportunistic: The Yellow Jackets went to Valdosta and won there for the first time since 1954. A blocked punt went for a touchdowns before halftime to give Wayne County a 10-point lead it never relinquished.
The win was a big one for first-year coach Ken Cribb, who went 63-26 and had a state championship appearance in seven seasons at Bluffton, S.C.
"The Toe" Lantz gets three: Starr's Mill managed to beat neighbor rival Northgate 16-13 on the strength of three field goals from Michael Lantz. The last one was from 42 yards and came with 2:56 remaining. Feisty Mitchell Prowant carried 22 times and picked up 130 yards for the No. 8-ranked Panthers.
Say it ain't so, Jo-siah? Josiah Futral had a remarkable day in a losing effort. Kell's senior tailback rushed for 242 yards and scored five touchdowns, but the No. 9 Longhorns were beaten 38-35 by Lassiter.
No Golden Spike for Chamblee: For the fourth straight seasons it was Dunwoody beating Chamblee to win the Battle of the Golden Spike. Dunwoody has won seven of the last eight meetings between the two teams.
Arabia Mountain keeps rolling: The Rams (3-0) got 200 yards and five touchdowns from Joshua Campbell in a 46-6 win over Redan. Bryson Williams threw two touchdown passes and coach Stanley Pritchett's team improved to 3-0 for the second straight year.
King coach gets first win: First-year coach Deante Lamar earned his first victory when King beat Miller Grove 19-13. The Lions (1-2) scored on touchdown runs from Jaelon Thomas and Donovan Corbett and added a 55-yard fumble return from Zachary Usher.
