Area 4 and Area 5 sent 10 total teams into the Class AAAAAA playoffs and dominate the pre-playoff poll with six of the top eight teams. No. 4 East Coweta and No. 5 John's Creek won their Area Tournaments and round out the top five. South Forsyth used a 3-1 win over West Forsyth to climb into the poll at No. 9. West Forsyth dropped to No. 10 and bumped out Pope, which failed to qualify for the state playoffs out of Area 5.

In Class AAAAA, Sequoyah was upset by River Ridge, but remains at No. 1 despite wearing a No. 2 seed into the playoffs. The win moved River Ridge up to No. 4. McIntosh entered the poll at No. 8 after grabbing the top seed out of Area 4. Ola plunged to No. 10 after consecutive losses to McIntosh and Starr's Mill in the Area 4 Tournament.

In Class AAAA, Heritage-Catoosa debuts at No. 9 after earning the No. 2 seed out of Area 7. The Patriots replace Southeast Whitfield after Northwest Whitfield dominated in a (25-14, 25-17) sweep over the Raiders in the Area 7 Tournament.

Westminster unseated Blessed Trinity for the top spot in Class AAA and topped the Titans (13-25, 25-12, 25-23, 25-22) in the Area 2 championship. East Hall replaced Fannin County in the poll and debuts at No. 8. Class AA saw Holy Innocents' reclaim No. 1 from Wesleyan and Athens Academy dropped four spots to No. 7 in Class A. ELCA and Walker jumped to No. 4 and No. 5, respectively in Class A.
