Wayne County QB Garrett Overholt's seven touchdowns against Appling County last week are tied for fourth-best in state history, according to the Georgia High School Football Historians Association.
The only documented players who have thrown for more are Ed Staten of North Whitfield (nine in 1962), Jeremy Privett of Charlton County (eight in 2003) and Hutson Mason of Lassiter (eight in 2009).
Overholt merely tied the Wayne County school record. Nick Beltz threw seven TD passes against Windsor Forest in 2014.
