Roswell returned a 1,000-yard all-state running back, Sheldon Evans. Now the Hornets have a 1,000-yard passer - just five games into the season.

Quintarius Neely, a transfer from Lovejoy, threw five TD passes in the first half of a 48-14 victory over previously unbeaten Walton last week. Evans did his part too, rushing for 142 yards. Two wideouts - Kendrick Jackson and Jayden Comma - each had more than 100 yards receiving.

For the season, Neely is 69-of-113 passing for 1,090 yards and 12 touchdowns with no interceptions for the unbeaten, third-ranked Hornets. At 6 feet, 180 pounds, Neely has only a few scholarship offers, including one from Army.

"He has taken his game up a level for sure and is really a perfect fit for our offense," Roswell coach John Ford said. "He is incredibly smart, reads defenses very well, has a strong arm paired with a quick release and does a good job buying time with his feet while looking downfield as opposed to just finding a running lane. He is fast enough that when he gets in the open field he can score [which he did against Lowndes and Lassiter] but is a pure passer with a strong arm."

Neely's effort against Walton, his best of the season, made GHSF Daily's Top Performances.
