The season is probably over for Woodstock QB Garrett Bass, who suffered a broken ankle in a game last week against Etowah.
If so, the sophomore will bow out as the state's leading passer with 1,498 yards in five games, according to records reported to GHSF Daily.
"I think it is really awesome to be able to say that," Bass told GHSF Daily, "but I couldn't be where I am without my teammates and the weapons around me. ... I've had ups and downs since the injury. I mean, who wouldn't be a little down about their season being taken away? But I'm blessed because I have two more seasons to accomplish my goals.”
One of Bass's weapons is WR Louis Hall, the state's leading receiver in yards. Bass and Hall have played together since they were 7-year-olds in the Cherokee Youth Football Association. Bass is 83-of-157 passing with 12 touchdowns and only two interceptions. Hall has 43 receptions for 609 yards.
