It's playoff time, a time when records and rankings go out the window. Still, it's fun to gander into the future with predictions based on how the regular season transpired.

So here we go: the GAC Spartans are your 2015 Class AA state champions, beating the Benedictine Cadets in the final. Full predictions from yours truly are in the picture above, while the Maxwell Projections have predicted Round 1.

By no means is it a bold prediction to say the title will come down to Benedictine and GAC. Maybe it's a bold prediction to say GAC beats Benedictine, but hey, that would only be fitting.

It would only be fitting because that's the best story line for this year's playoffs. The Spartans beat Benedictine in last year's season opener, met the Cadets in the championship game and lost. This season the Cadets beat the Spartans in the season opener, so now the Spartans return the favor - right?

A rematch of each of the past season's season openers and title games makes for a heck of a story - agreed? Sure, some Cinderella team could run the tables, but that's not likely. Also, there are some very good teams in the playoffs that will make a legitimate push at a title run - Rabun County, Brooks County and Darlington are a few that come to mind.

But this year's playoffs appear to create a collision course that ends the season the way it began - a matchup between GAC and Benedictine.

Just like last season.
