The severe weather system that has moved into Georgia has delayed the Region 8-A tourmanemt until Friday, unless the conditions do not improve.

Commerce High School principal and athletic director Donnie Drew, who is also the Region 8-A secretary, said earlier Wednesday that he was not sure when the tournament would be able to resume.  However, Towns County girls head coach Jim Melton released a new tentative schedule that has the tournament resuming on Friday at Commerce.

Region 8 is subdivided into two divisions, North and South.  The top boys seeds are Pinecrest Academy (#1 North) and Athens Christian (#1 South).  The top girls seeds are Lakeview Academy (#1 North) and George Walton (#1 South). The first round games were played on Monday. On the boys side, George Walton Academy advanced with a 58-46 win over Prince Avenue Christian, while the Athens Academy girls moved on with a 28-22 win over Providence Christian.
