The Region 6-AAAAA basketball tournament, originally scheduled to run Monday-Saturday this week but postponed because of the inclement weather, will now begin on Saturday and end on Wednesday. All games are at Tucker High School.

The tournament will begin at noon Saturday with a girls game between Clarkston and Lakeside-DeKalb and will be followed by a boys game between the same two schools. The winners of those games will play again later on Saturday. Those will be the only two teams that will have to play twice in one day.

Current members of 6-AAAAA have won eight of the past 10 boys state championships in the second-highest classification and five of the past six girls state titles. The region also features three of the top four boys teams (No. 1 Miller Grove, No. 3 Stephenson and No. 4 Tucker) and three of the top eight girls teams (No. 1 Southwest DeKalb, No. 2 Tucker and No. 8 Stephenson).
