Two-time defending state champion Colquitt County is out of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution high school football rankings for the first time since 2012 while a couple of Cobb County schools, Lassiter and Harrison, are breaking rankings droughts.

There also is a new No. 1 team. Macon County (1-0) takes over for Clinch County in the Class A public-school division. Clinch, the reigning champion, was beaten by Brooks County 35-21 on Friday.

In the highest classification, Colquitt County dropped to 0-3 after a 21-20 loss to Tucker. It is the first time that Colquitt has been missing from the rankings or lost a home game to a Georgia team since 2012.

That opened a spot for Lassiter (3-0), which is ranked the first time since 2012. Lassiter won 24-9 against previously third-ranked Kell of AAAAA. Lassiter is No. 7.

Harrison (3-0) is No. 9 in AAAAAA after a 25-13 victory over North Cobb. Harrison is ranked for the first time since 2008.
