GHSF Daily's Chip Saye ranks the most surprising and notable games of the weekend:

1. Monroe 21, Cairo 14: Monroe prevented Cairo from clinching the 1-AAAA Division A title and created the possibility of a three-way tie for first in the subregion with Thomas County Central. Cairo holds the tiebreaker advantage and can still win the subregion with a victory against Albany this week. The subregion winner will play Worth County for the region title.

2. Harrison 43, Hillgrove 42: Harrison, a 20-point underdog according to the computer Maxwell Ratings, scored a touchdown and two-point conversion with one second remaining to beat its west Cobb neighbor for the first time in five meetings. Hillgrove was in first place in 4-AAAAAA but can still win the region title if it beats McEachern on Nov. 7.

3. Westlake 14, Hughes 6: Westlake, just two years removed from an 0-10 season, is on the brink of its first region championship since 2005 after knocking off a Hughes team that was ranked No. 4 in Class AAAAAA last week. Westlake, which was projected as a 12-point underdog by Maxwell, can win the 3-AAAAAA title by beating South Cobb this week.

4. Eagle's Landing Christian 35, Landmark Christian 28: ELCA started the season 0-6 and was No. 19 in last week's Class A private-school power rankings, but the Chargers can now clinch the Region 5-A title with a victory against Our Lady of Mercy this week. ELCA has won four consecutive region titles. Landmark was ranked No. 7 in Class A last week.

5. Peachtree Ridge 35, Norcross 2: First-place Norcross fell into a four-way tie with Peachtree Ridge, North Gwinnett and Mill Creek for the top spot in 7-AAAAAA with its second surprisingly lopsided loss of the season. North Gwinnett has the easiest remaining schedule of the four teams. Peachtree Ridge and Norcross both play Collins Hill and Mill Creek.

6. Woodward Academy 28, Sandy Creek 7: Woodward Academy took sole possession of first place in Region 5-AAAA after snapping Sandy Creek's 44-game winning streak in region games. The War Eagles, who are ranked No. 3 this week, are closing in on their first region title since 1997. Sandy Creek's last region loss came against Haralson County in 2007.

7. Harris County 34, Carver, Columbus 14: Harris County moved into sole possession of first place in 1-AAAAA by snapping Carver's 53-game winning streak in region games. Harris County can clinch the region title with a victory at home against LaGrange this week. Carver's last loss in a region game came against LaGrange in 2006.

8. Northgate 43, Drew 30: Drew moved into first place in 4-AAAAA Division A with a victory in its previous game against Mundy's Mill, but this loss dropped the Titans into a tie for second with Northgate. Drew will still win the subregion it beats McIntosh and Northgate loses to Starr's Mill. The subregion winner will play in the region championship game on Nov. 7.

9. Seminole County 61, Berrien 21: Berrien had a firm grasp on the fourth playoff spot in 1-AA, but this loss puts the Rebels back in a three-team battle with Early County and Seminole County for that final berth. All three teams have three losses in the region. Seminole, which picked up its first region victory, was a 12-point underdog, according to Maxwell.

10. Southeast Bulloch 22, Jenkins 21: Southeast Bulloch opened the season with four consecutive non-subregion losses, but the Yellow Jackets got hot at the right time and clinched the 1-AAA Division B title. The region will not hold a designated championship game, so Southeast Bulloch will play the fourth-place team from Division A in a play-in game.
