GHSF Daily's Chip Saye ranks the most surprising and notable games of the weekend:
1. Shiloh 26, Parkview 21: Shiloh picked up its first victory of the season against a Parkview team that was projected as a 28-point favorite by the computer Maxwell Ratings. Parkview remains in control of its postseason fate, however. The Panthers will make the playoffs from 8-AAAAAA if they win their remaining games against Central Gwinnett and Dacula. Parkview leads the all-time series with Shiloh 22-4.
2. Spencer 22, Westside (Macon) 16: Westside climbed as high as No. 6 in the Class AAA rankings as it started the season 5-0. Now the Seminoles have lost two out of three and are fighting for their playoff lives in Region 2. If Westside loses to 7-2 Peach County this week, its regular-season finale against Southwest is likely to be a must-win game.
3. Riverwood 49, Cambridge 26: After seeing Cambridge beat Kell 21-7 and Kell beat Riverwood 31-3, there was no reason to believe Riverwood would be able to turn the tables against Cambridge. But the Raiders won, leaving the three teams tied for first place in 7-AAAAA Div. B. Kell holds the tiebreaker for a spot in the region championship game.
4. Habersham Central 21, Johns Creek 6: Habersham Central won for the first time this year and just the third time since the start of the 2012 season, knocking off a Johns Creek team that came in as a 15-point favorite and is fighting for a playoff spot in 6-AAAAAA. The loss leaves Johns Creek in fifth place in the region with two difficult games remaining.
5. Mount Paran Christian 7, Trion 6: Mount Paran broke the record for longest winning streak by a Cobb team with its 22nd consecutive victory, but the streak almost was broken by an 18-point underdog. Trion had an extra-point attempt blocked, missed a 29-yard field goal and had an 80-yard fourth-quarter TD pass called back for offsetting penalties.
Also of note: Alexander, an eight-point underdog, knocked East Paulding out of the driver's seat in the race for the 5-AAAAA title with a 24-21 victory over the Raiders. Allatoona can now win the region with a victory in its regular-season finale. ... Sixth-ranked and undefeated Central (Carrollton) came into its game with Cedartown as a 35-point favorite but escaped with a 27-22 victory. Cedartown is 1-7 but likely needs only one more victory to make the playoffs from six-team 5-AAA. ... KIPP Atlanta Collegiate won for the first time this season and just the third time in the program's three-year history, beating 34-point favorite B.E.S.T. Academy 27-26. ... Osborne set a school record for points in a 69-3 victory over Cross Keys that gave the Cardinals, who are playing a non-region schedule, their second win of the season. Osborne's previous best was 53 points against Forest Park in 1962. ... No. 9 Pace Academy has long been considered a lock to make the playoffs from 6-AA, but those playoff hopes were almost derailed in a 17-16 victory over Hapeville. Pace Academy blocked a late extra-point attempt to salvage the win.
