GHSF Daily's Chip Saye ranks the most surprising and notable games of the weekend:
*1. Shiloh 27, Collins Hill 14:Shiloh won its final three games of 2015 after starting 0-7, and the Generals appear to have carried over the momentum, knocking off a team that reached the AAAAAA quarterfinals. The victory gave Shiloh its first four-game winning streak since 2000, when David Pollack was a senior and the school's last first-team all-state player.
*2. Benedictine 24, Glynn Academy 7:Benedictine was the AA champion in 2014 and is currently ranked No. 2 in the class, but its 17-point victory was nonetheless surprising. Glynn Academy was the runner-up in AAAAA last season and ranked No. 2 in AAAAAA in the preseason. The computer Maxwell Ratings had projected Glynn as a three-point favorite.
*3. Mt. Zion, Jonesboro 9, Jonesboro 7:Jonesboro was 11-2 and reached the AAAA quarterfinals last season and entered this game as a 33-point favorite, but its Clayton County rival ended a five-game losing streak in the series (six, including forfeits). Mount Zion went 2-8 last season, including a 31-6 loss to the Cardinals in the opener.
*4. Forest Park 6, Towers 2:Forest Park ended a 21-game losing streak with a victory against a struggling DeKalb school that was projected as a 17-point favorite by Maxwell. The win was Forest Park's first since Nov. 1, 2013, when it beat Mount Zion of Jonesboro 22-13 for one of two victories that season. Towers was 2-8 each of the past two seasons.
*5. Mill Creek 34, Colquitt County 27:Losing to a top-five program in Class AAAAAAA doesn't qualify as an upset, but the end of a 30-game winning streak is always newsworthy. Mill Creek handed the Packers their first loss since they were beaten by Norcross 14-9 in the 2013 semifinals. Mill Creek also avenged a 52-31 loss in last year's semifinals.
Also of note: Camden County has played at least one Florida opponent every year since 2008 but had not lost to one since 2010. The Wildcats' five-game winning streak against Florida teams ended on Friday with a 27-13 loss to Oakleaf of Orange Park. ... Mount de Sales won its opener for the first time since returning to the GHSA in 2014, rolling past Pacelli 48-6. Mount de Sales opened the past two seasons with 44-10 and 35-17 losses to Vikings. ... Northside's 55-3 victory over cross-town rival Warner Robins was the most-lopsided game in the history of the series that dates to 1964. Last year, Northside scored the most points in the series in a 58-14 win. ... Pebblebrook ended an eight-game losing streak against rival South Cobb with a 40-0 victory, one year after losing 42-7 to the Eagles. Pebblebrook hasn't had a winning season since 2009. ... South Gwinnett withstood a strong debut by Central Gwinnett's Josh Samuel, a transfer who led South Carolina in rushing last season, and ended a three-game losing streak to the Black Knights with a 54-21 victory. Samuel rushed for 166 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries.
