GHSF Daily's Chip Saye ranks the most surprising game of the weekend. Many of the games on the list this week weren't upsets, but they produced some notable results:

1. Milton 26, Norcross 0: Norcross had climbed from No. 9 in the preseason Class AAAAAA rankings to No. 3 last week after beating Tucker and Brookwood to open the season, but this loss knocked the two-time defending champions out of the rankings. The Blue Devils' last loss to a Fulton County team was on Sept. 10, 2004 against Chattahoochee 13-10.

2. Columbia 22, Cedar Grove 0: Cedar Grove fell from No. 4 to unranked in Class AAA after losing to a Columbia team that was beaten by Southwest DeKalb 13-12 in its opener on Aug. 22. It was Columbia's second victory in the past three meetings with Cedar Grove, which still leads the series between the DeKalb County schools 9-6.

3. Lanier 35, Clarke Central 20: Clarke Central, Heritage-Conyers, Gainesville and Flowery Branch have represented 8-AAAAA in the playoffs the past two seasons, but things appear to be changing this year. Lanier, which moved into the region after reaching the second round in Class AAAA in 2013, is 2-0 and hosts Flowery Branch this week.

4. Walnut Grove 23, Monroe Area 18: Walnut Grove beat its rival for the first time in five all-time meetings. This one was a stunning 80-point reversal from last year's game, which Monroe Area won 75-0 on its way to an 11-1 season. Monroe Area lost its opener 28-12 to Loganville (a team it beat 48-21 last year) and is 0-2 for the first time since 2009.

5. Mays 34, M.L. King 0: M.L. King lost to Mays for the second consecutive season and fell to 0-2 for the first time in school history. The Lions opened the season with a 30-0 loss to Norland of Florida in the Battle of the Borders Showdown, and the back-to-back shutouts are also a school first. It might not get any better this weekend as M.L. King meets Tucker.

6. Lithia Springs 27, Chapel Hill 7: Lithia Springs (1-1) broke a 14-game losing streak that was the longest active slump by any Class AAAAA school. The Lions' victory was their first since beating Woodland of Cartersville 27-14 on Oct. 19, 2012. First-year Lithia Springs head coach Craig Chatman had been Lovejoy's offensive coordinator since 2002.

7. Kennesaw Mountain 29, Mountain View 26: Kennesaw Mountain, which began playing football in 2000, has never been to the playoffs and has had a winning season only three times in its history. The Mustangs hadn't opened a season at 2-0 since 2008, either, but they are there now after beating Sprayberry and Mountain View by a combined five points.

8. Greater Atlanta Christian 23, Eagle's Landing Christian 16: GAC was projected as a 22-point favorite in this game by the computer Maxwell Ratings, so the Spartans' victory was not a surprise. But what is unusual is ELCA's 0-3 record. The Chargers hadn't lost three games in a regular season since 2007 or started a season 0-3 since 2001.

9. Calhoun 34, Carrollton 6: Calhoun was projected as a four-point favorite by Maxwell and won by a much wider margin. What was significant was that it dropped Carrollton to 0-3 for the first time since 1977. It also represented a 63-point turnaround from last year's game, which Carrollton won 42-7. Carrollton hasn't started a season 0-4 since 1949.

10. Salem 19, Heritage-Conyers 14: Salem went 3-7 overall (2-6 in region) last year but inserted itself into what should be a wide-open playoff race in 8-AAAAA this season. Heritage, which has made four consecutive playoff appearances, is 0-2 for the first time since 2009. Salem broke a four-game losing streak in the series against its Conyers rival.
