Sharman White of Miller Grove was named the National High School Coaches Association (NHSCA) boys basketball coach of the year this week.

Miller Grove won its seventh state championship in eight seasons this year and finished with a 30-2 record and several national rankings. White's record as a head coach is 372-90.

White was named the USA Today All-USA boys coach of the year in 2014.

The only other Georgia coach to win the NHSCA national coach of the year award, which has been given since 2000, was Wheeler's Doug Lipscomb in 2012.

White got another honor earlier this month when he was announced as an assistant coach for the 2016 USA Basketball Men’s U17 World Championship Team that will compete in the FIBA World Championship.
