With little more than a month left in the regular season, the leaders are starting to make their presence known in many of the regions around the state.

The Dawson Country girls are more than halfway through a second straight undefeated regular season. The Tigers improved to 16-0 with a 62-33 road win over Fannin County on Friday. Dawson County has shown balanced scoring all year, with Karlie Bearden and Haley Burgess leading the way. The duo scored 14 points each against Fannin County.

Kendrick’s girls extended their winning streak to 10 games and took firm possession of first place in Region 2-AAA with its 67-62 win over Peach County. The Cherokees are averaging 74 points per game and have beaten rival Peach twice this season, but still have two games remaining against Central Macon.

The Haralson County girls have reeled off 16 straight wins since losing the season opener to Calhoun. The Rebels scored a 57-39 win over Rockmart on Friday to improve its Region 5-AA record to 2-0.

The Maynard Jackson girls won a showdown with North Clayton 68-48 on Friday to take over sole possession of first in Region 4-AAA Division A. The Phoenix (14-1) have won 12 straight games and have a crossover showdown with Westminster on Friday. Keimeshia Walker (20.3 points) and Erica Gibbons (16.3) are leading the way.

The Westminster boys have won 12 straight and taken control of Region 4-AAA Division B. The Wildcats (13-2, 4-0) defeated rival Blessed Trinity 49-29 on Friday and have not allowed the opposition to score 50 points in the last six games.

Calhoun (13-0, 3-0) won a showdown with North Murray 77-53 on Friday and now holds undisputed first place in the Region 6-AAA boys standings. The Yellow Jackets bring a balanced attack that’s led by senior Kaelan Riley (15.8 points, 8.0 rebounds per game) and Jireh Wilson (13.8 points, 5.5 rebounds).
