Here are some highlights from top teams and performers in GHSA lacrosse:
Boys: The No. 7-ranked team in Class AAAAA-A, the Blessed Trinity Titans, are off to a 7-3 start (3-1 in Region 3) with a win over Allatoona and a loss to Pope this week. They are led by senior goalie Sean Dever, who had 32 saves on the week (64% save percentage on the season). ... The St. Pius X Golden Lions, ranked No. 8 in AAAAA-A, were 3-0 on the week with wins over Southwest DeKalb, Benedictine and Collins Hill, pushing their record to 8-2 and 3-0 in Region 4. Senior midfielder Patrick Girard scored 11 goals on the week; senior midfielder Matt Doelling added 5 goals. ... The No. 1-ranked Westminster Wildcats (9-1, 4-0 in 2 AAAAA-A) picked up two wins this week over North Paulding and defending AAAAAA champion Centennial, a game they Wildcats won 11-10 thanks to Read Ziegler's 4 goals. ... The Fellowship Christian School Paladins are AAAAA-A's No. 9-ranked team, off to a 9-2 start after wins over Woodward and Pace. Top Paladins performers are senior attacker Cameron Petrovich (48 goals on the season), senior midfielder Taylor Cookston (37 goals, 21 assists) and freshman attacker Harrison Petrovich (36 goals, 23 assists). ... AAAAAA's No. 2-ranked Harrison Hoyas (10-0) defeated Mill Creek 13-6 this week led by Zach Danneman's 4 goals and Lucas Wittenberg's 3 goals and 1 assist. ... The No. 3-ranked in AAAAA-A, the Lovett Lions (10-0), defeated Lambert and Holy Innocents, with Justin Garr scoring 6 goals on the week.
Girls: The North Gwinnett Lady Bulldogs are off to their best start in program history at 8-2 (2-0 in 4 AAAAAA), good for a No. 7 ranking in Class AAAAAA. They defeated South Forsyth and lost to Lambert this week. Leaders include senior Lindsey Cobb (26 assists on the season) and senior Lauren Aycock (4 goals this week; 34 on the season). ... The West Forsyth Lady Wolverines lost to St. Pius X and beat Forsyth Central to move to 7-3 and 3-0 in Region 3, good for a No. 8 ranking in AAAAAA. Junior attackers McKinley Puckett (6 goals) and Monica Martelli (5 goals) led the team this week. ... AAAAA-A's No. 3-ranked team, the Pope Lady Greyhounds (9-2, 4-1 in Region 2), lost to Kell and beat Creekview. They were led by Zoe Szczotka's 11 goals and Sophia Bowers' 6 goals. ... The John's Creek Lady Gladiators, ranked No. 9 in Class AAAAAA are 7-4 and 6-1 in Region 6 after wins over North Forsyth and Peachtree Ridge. Tori Williams had 7 goals on the week and Alli Dawson had 4. ... The No. 7-ranked Blessed Trinity Lady Titans are 6-3 (3-2 in Region 3) and beat Forsyth Central 19-0 this week. Freshman attacker Mary Markwordt had 5 goals and 3 assists and leads the team with 27 goals and 22 assists on the season.
